Last year, Nike released a special Jackie Robinson-inspired colorway of the Dunk Low to honor the 75th anniversary of the baseball legend breaking the sport’s color barrier in 1947. Continuing the celebration is this upcoming Air Force 1 release shown here.
The “Jackie Robinson” Air Force 1 Low is slightly more subtle than its Dunk counterpart last year, with a white-based leather upper and grey overlay panels. There are blue accents on the tongue, Swoosh, and heel tab as a nod to the Brooklyn Dodgers, the team that Robinson made his professional debut with. Robinson’s iconic jersey number is embroidered on the heel counter, while the year he became the first Black player of the modern MLB era and the year he retired from baseball appear on the aglets. The text “change the world” is printed throughout the shoelaces. Completing the look is a speckled gum sole.
No release details are currently available for this “Jackie Robinson” Air Force 1 Low, but check back soon with Sole Collector for official updates in the coming weeks.
UPDATE (04/11): Nike has officially confirmed that the “Jackie Robinson” Air Force 1 Low will be released on April 15 via SNKRS for $120.
